Purchasing Models

What is a Distance Seller?

A Distance Seller offers delivery to the destination country and is responsible for applicable destination-country obligations.

Distance sellers typically provide a complete purchasing process that includes delivery to the customer.

DrinkData identifies these merchants as "Distance Sellers".

What is a Self-Collection Merchant?

A Self-Collection Merchant makes products available outside Finland.

These merchants:

  • Offer collection abroad
  • Do not offer delivery to Finland
  • Do not arrange transportation to Finland
  • Require customers to arrange transportation independently

DrinkData clearly identifies these merchants on the platform.

What is Duty Free and Travel Retail?

Duty Free and Travel Retail refers to purchases made through:

  • Airport retailers
  • Ferry operators
  • Cruise operators
  • Other travel retail channels

These merchants are displayed separately from Distance Sellers and Self-Collection Merchants.
